Executive Director, Diversity and Engagement for Student Affairs
Guided by the University’s Catholic, Holy Cross mission, the Division of Student Affairs promotes the holistic education of undergraduate, graduate, and professional students so that all may flourish at the University of Notre Dame and beyond. Through this shared work, services, and partnerships, Student Affairs seeks to honor individual experiences and foster a sense of belonging; deepen engagement in faith; and cultivate meaningful relationships that empower students and enable them to develop in mind, body, and spirit.The Executive Director of Diversity and Engagement reports directly to the Vice President for Student Affairs (VPSA), serves on the VPSA’s leadership team, and is an integral member of the Division’s strategic planning efforts. The Executive Director’s primary focus is to lead Student Affairs’ efforts around diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, and to firmly situate these efforts within the University’s Catholic, Holy Cross mission and character. Included in the Executive Director’s responsibilities are the supervision and oversight of three departments that report through the Center for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, specifically the Gender Relations Center (GRC), the Multicultural Student Programs and Services (MSPS), and the Office of Student Enrichment (OSE). Additionally, the Executive Director will provide all strategic oversight, supervision and direction for the Center’s staff and the new physical space opened in Fall of 2023.Provide supervision and strategic oversight to the three Student Affairs departments that are physically housed within the Center for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, specially: Multicultural Student Programs and Services (MSPS); the Office of Student Enrichment (OSE); and the Gender Relations Center (GRC).Provide all strategic oversight, supervision and direction for the Center’s staff and the new physical space opened in Fall of 2023.Lead divisional DEI efforts on behalf of the Vice President and represent as appropriate by - Serve as co-facilitator for implementation of strategic priorities and outreach related to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Lead the Inclusive Campus Student Survey administration and pre/post-survey engagement Serve as the primary liaison to other University offices on issues of diversity, equity, and inclusionLead strategic engagement of Student Affairs staff around issues of diversity, equity, and inclusionCoordinate the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs’ involvement in strategic campus engagement initiatives, including: the Advisory Committee for Student Climate related to LGBTQ Students and Advisory Committee for Student Climate related to Race and Ethnicity, Campus Life Council, Student Affairs’ participation in Walk the Walk Week, etc.Collaborate with various campus partners including the Advisor to the VPSA to develop and lead a strategy for parent/family engagement as this engagement relates to the students served by the Center - Partner with the Director of Finance and Operations to support the strategic recruitment and professional development of Student Affairs staff as it relates to diversity, equity, and inclusion - Serve as a liaison to the Office of Institutional Equity for issues involving discriminatory harassment among students
